Statement of purpose

The clinic is a specialist independent clinic for children and adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and or Autism spectrum Disorder.

Cancellations and charges.

  • All patients must register before they are able to use the services provided by the clinic.
  •  By using the services provided then you agree to our charging policy, assessment charges and terms and conditions of business in accordance with policies below. For the provision of our services then you shall pay us the cost of the agreed assessment, as indicated by our fees. We shall agree with you the type of assessment you require, and confirm by email. A comprehensive report is included in the cost, however any additional reports may incur further charges, and this is at the discretion of the clinic.
  • Payment is kindly to be made by  BACS transfer in advance of assessment.. For any patients that have outstanding accounts, then further services will be at the discretion of the clinic. Medical insurance unfortunately cannot be accepted as a form of payment.
  • We require at least 2 working days notice (48 hours) for the cancellation of appointments. Cancellation of a Monday appointment should be given by 9 a.m on the Thursday before, to take account of clinic closure over the weekend.  Cancellations of less than 48 hours notice will incur a charge of up to 50% of the fee. If less than 24 hours notice is given, or if the patient and family do not attend the appointment, the full fee will be payable. This fee maybe waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the clinic.

Data Protection Act 1998 and confidentiality.

  • The clinician is a member of a professional body identified and will abide by their Code of standards and conduct.
  • All patient information will be kept securely in compliance with GDPR.
  • We observe the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the data protection principles in relation to personal data. By agreeing to these terms you are agreeing to the processing of personal data to enable us to carry out work on your behalf. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have a right to request details of your personal data held by us.

Communication and Confidentiality.

  • If patients have any preference how we contact you then please indicate this on your registration form.
  • The clinic agrees not to disclose any information about the patient without written consent, unless in accordance with our safeguarding policy as below.
  • Where the patient is under 18 and discloses information that raises serious and immediate concerns for their well-being and safety, the clinic has a duty of care to break confidentiality and share this with their legal guardian or another appropriate person. The clinic and clinicians will discuss this with the patient in the first instance where possible and in accordance with guidance from the Local Authority.
  • Confidential information does not include information that:   Is generally known to the public. Is obtained by the clinic from a third party, without any breach of any obligation to the patient. The clinic is required by statute or by court order to disclose.  Is disclosed to the clinic as a result of such disclosure, and as a result of such disclosure the clinic reasonably believes there to be an imminent or likely risk of danger or harm to the patient or others. Involves illegal activity.
  • The patient acknowledges their obligation to promptly raise confidentiality questions or concerns with the clinic.
  • Brief notes of assessments and  sessions will be kept and these will be kept securely in compliance with GDPR.

Safeguarding policy

  • The wellbeing of any patient is at the heart of everything that we do.
  • Where a child is suffering or is likely to suffer from harm, it is important that a referral to children’s social care at MASH(Multi-Agency-Safeguarding Hub) or equivalent (and if appropriate police) is made immediately.
  • Safeguarding of adults/adults at risk of abuse or neglect-are adults aged over 18 who:Have a need for care and support(whether or not the local authority are meeting any of those needs.) Is experiencing, or is at a risk of abuse or neglect. As a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of, abuse or neglect.  Our policy is written with regard to” Working Together to safeguard children 2018 (Last updated 1 July 2022), the Revised Prevent Duty Guidance for England and Wales (April 2022) The Care Act 2014, the Data Protection Act(2018) and the Uk General Data Protection Regulation.

The client/clinician roles.

1)    The clinicians agree to maintain the ethics and standards of behaviour of both  Health & Care Council and Social Work England. We recommend that the client review the applicable standards of conduct.

2)   The client is asked to attend their session free from the effects of alcohol and non-medical drugs. If the client appears to be under the influence of such substances, the clinician obtains the right to refuse the services.

3)   Threatening, abusive or violent behaviour will not be tolerated and will lead to the termination of the assessment.

4)    5.3.8 Where there is more than one person with Legal Responsibility (for example, two parents that each have parental responsibility within the meaning of Section 3 of the Children Act 1989 (as amended from time to time)) and there is a contradiction between the instructions or consent from such persons, we will cease providing our Services and any sharing of information unless and until there is a joint instruction or joint consent for such persons in writing or a court order directing or authorising a course of action.

Compliments and complaints.

We are committed to providing you with the highest possible standards of service and assessment, and deal with any issues that may occur.

If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of any complaint then you are able to go to the Independent Sector Complaints Adjudication Service ((ISCAS).
